Congress Super Sale

Held October 16th during the American Quarter Congress in Columbus, Ohio, the Congress Super Sale definitely lived up to its name. One hundred and eighty-four top-of-the-line horses were there to be sold. From halter and performance prospects to mares bred to leading stallions, the quality of the horses was, as the sale name implied, super!

The high selling horse was Huntin For Chocolate, a 1996 gray stallion, who brought $300,000. By Zips Chocolate Chip, AQHA’s #1 All-Time Leading Sire of Amateur Western Pleasure Point Earners, and out of Hunting Dell, he is a World Champion Amateur Western Pleasure Horse, has Superiors in Western Pleasure-Amateur and Western Pleasure-Open, and is an earner of 288 AQHA points & $40,725. As a sire, he has 129 performers, who’ve earned 12,076 AQHA & APHA points, 129 ROM, 48 Superiors, and $615,508.

Of the 184 horses that passed through the ring, the 148 horses that sold grossed $1,196,600. The average sale price was $8,085 and the sale percent was 80%. The Top 5 sellers brought $397,500, for an average of $79,500.
