The 4th Hylee Production and Consignment Auction was held October 29th at the farm in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin. The quality of the Morgan horses consigned in the past has been excellent, and this year was no exception. A good balance of young prospects, seasoned show horses, and high quality broodmares were offered. The horses were trained in a multitude of disciplines, from huntseat to western, carriage driving to dressage, and even plain old pleasure riding. Forty of these beautiful and talented horses went through the ring, with 35 of them going to new homes.
High seller honors went to Equinox Attache, a 2004 bay stallion, who sold for $26,500. Sired by White Rock’s Caliopy and out of Charlestown Madonna, his high going park action had earned him wins in park harness and park saddle. His foals inherit his size, intelligence, and are easy to train.
The 31 horses grossed $115,500, with an average sale price of $3,300 and a sale percentage of 88%. The Top 5 sellers brought $63,300, for an average of $12,660.

That’s great to see good quality Morgans going on to so many different careers! I have super memories of a grand Morgan stallion I used to ride years ago for saddleseat lessons at Bell View Acres near Orland Park, IL. He was enormous, but such a gentleman.
Do you have a sense for how this sale compared to the first three for Hylee Farm?
I had a horse growing up that was half Quarter Horse and half Morgan Horse, the toughest horse I ever had. A beautiful gait but very rough!
