The Tom Powers Futurity, started in 1980, is the oldest continuously operating pleasure futurity in the world. This year, the 1st Tom Powers Triple Challenge Futurity Stakes Sale was held and considered to be an overwhelming success. Thirty-five yearlings went through the ring. To be eligible for the futurity, the yearlings had to be microchipped and actually go through the sale ring. A large percentage of the horses in the sale had high reserves set for them, being entered for the purpose of establishing eligibility for the futurity program. As a result, 57% of the yearlings offered were sold.

High selling yearling was a 2010 bay colt, Simply One Hot, who brought $27,000. He was sired by One Hot Invitation, who has 15 AQHA Halter points, an Open Halter Register Of Merit (ROM), and AQHA Incentive Fund earnings of $500.85. His dam is Selection So Fine, by Selection So Simple. He is nominated to the AQHA Incentive Fund, National Snaffle Bit Association (NSBA) Breeders’ Championship Futurity, and the Michigan Futurity.

Twenty yearlings sold for a net total of $166,800, with an average price of $8,340. The Top 6 sellers (2 sold for $14,500) brought $107,200, for an average of $17,867.
