The 2011 World Appaloosa Sale was held October 26th at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in  Fort Worth, Texas. Held in conjunction with the World Championship Appaloosa Show, the sale is made up of several sales, including the Yearling Incentive Sale, the Broodmare Incentive Sale, and the Select Appaloosa Sale. Buyers from throughout the United States and several countries were there to preview and purchase the quality Appaloosas up for auction. Sixty-three horses found new homes at the end of the sale.

The over-all high selling honors of the sale went to Chipped My Ride, a 2011 bay colt, who was consigned to the Yearling Incentive Sale and sold for $17,000. He was sired by The Miracle Chip, an ApHC Hall of Fame stallion and the only horse in the history of the ApHC to win championships in National, World, and Solid Gold 2-year-old Western Pleasure. His dam, Zippin To Heaven, is a daughter of Unzippin (earner of a Bronze Medallion in Halter & Silver Medallion in Western Pleasure).

The over-all average sale price was $3,043. The Top 5 Sellers brought $59,700, for an average price of $11,940.

ApHC CEO Steve Taylor stated, “Despite ongoing concerns about general economic conditions and the viability of the horse market, World Sale consignors presented an outstanding collection of quality horses. Bidders were discerning, but willing to pay for superior genetics and proven performance.”
