April 30th started off with the sale of the stallions. Seventeen stallions were sent through the ring, with 14 of them selling.
The high selling stallion was Ogdensburg Ax’s Utah, a 2008 bay, who sold for $10,500. By Thistle Ridge Av’s Axel and out of Elshmarg Lady Anne, he has been shown successfully since he was a foal. He was 2010 Grand Champion Stallion at the Lindsay Fair in Ontario, Canada. He could go either way, as a herd sire or a show gelding.
The 14 stallions totaled $46,500. The average price was $3,321 and the sale percentage was 82%. The Top 5 sellers brought $30,500, for an average of $6,100.
After the stallions finished selling, in came the mares. Forty-five mares trotted through, with 42 of them selling.
The high selling mare was Otter Creek Jubilee Kate, a 2005 bay, who sold for $27,500, making her the highest selling horse in the entire sale. By Boat Legend Jubilee and out of Westerdale Sweet Helen, she is a great driving mare and was 1st Honorable Mention in the 2008 All-American program. She has raised some nice foals and is in foal for 2012.
The 42 mares totaled $156,650. The average price was $3,783 and the sale percentage was 93%. The Top 6 sellers (2 mares sold for the same price) brought $58,700, for an average of $9,783.
